NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE The harrowing, true account from the brave men on the ground who fought back during the Battle of Benghazi. 13 HOURS presents, for the first time ever, the true account of the events of September 11, 2012, when terrorists attacked the US State Department Special Mission Compound and a nearby CIA station called the Annex in Benghazi, Libya. A team of six American security operators fought to repel the attackers and protect the Americans stationed there. Those men went beyond the call of duty, performing extraordinary acts of courage and heroism, to avert tragedy on a much larger scale. This is their personal account, never before told, of what happened during the thirteen hours of that now-infamous attack. 13 HOURS sets the record straight on what happened during a night that has been shrouded in mystery and controversy. Written by New York Times bestselling author Mitchell Zuckoff, this riveting book takes readers into the action-packed story of heroes who laid their lives on the line for one another, for their countrymen, and for their country. 13 HOURS is a stunning, eye-opening, and intense book--but most importantly, it is the truth. The story of what happened to these men--and what they accomplished--is unforgettable.

Summary, Analysis & Review of Mitchell Zuckoff’s 13 Hours by Instaread Preview: 13 Hours by Mitchell Zuckoff and the surviving members of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) annex in Benghazi is a narrative recounting of the events surrounding the militant attacks on the Benghazi diplomatic compound and the nearby CIA annex on September 11 and 12, 2012. These attacks resulted in the deaths of Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, State Department communications expert Sean Smith, and two CIA Global Response Staff (GRS) members, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty. A similar attack had occurred on June 5, 1967, but British soldiers were able to rescue all Americans at the Benghazi consulate. Modern Libya is divided between a disparate east and west, still experiencing the consequences of colonial rule, uneven distribution of oil wealth, and a military coup that put Muammar al-Gaddafi in power. In 2011, Libyans joined the Arab Spring revolutions. They forced Gaddafi into hiding, found him, and killed him. Following the revolution, Benghazans were generally positive toward Americans… PLEASE NOTE: This is a summary, analysis & review of the book and NOT the original book. Annals of the International Geophysical Year, Volume 25: Observations of the Night Airglow covers the results from systematic observations of the night airglow during the two and a half year period of the International Geophysical Year and International Geophysical Cooperation (July 1957 through December 1959). Airglow refers to light other than the polar aurora, emitted by the upper atmosphere. This volume is composed of eight chapters that contain a series of tables of hourly values of the absolute zenith intensity of the airglow, arranged according to station and wavelength. The numerical results from the several observers were put on punched cards to facilitate machine printing and statistical studies. The local times are given at the top of each page, and the universal times at the bottom. The year, month and day of the observations are shown in the first three columns. The convention was adopted of using the date corresponding to the evening, thus, the entire night of 1/2 July 1957 is entered as 1 July 1957 with the understanding that the date changed to 2 July at local midnight. The rest of the book considers the instruments, procedures, and statistic study of the night airglow. This book is of great value to geophysicists.

In 1986, Cam Tribolet was on his way home from a night of drinking when, at a Ft. Wayne, Indiana, stoplight, three men tried to carjack him. During the assault, Cam was shot three times in the stomach. One bullet ripped through his aorta, another lodged near his back, and the third tore through his bowels, spewing infection throughout his body. Cam’s family was informed that he probably wouldn’t survive the night. But he did. In the days and weeks that followed, both of Cam’s legs would be amputated above the knee. He would endure thirty-six operations and require resuscitation thirteen times. His fiancée would break up with him in the hospital. He would become addicted to drugs to deal with the pain. And he would face the loss of his career. He would even contemplate suicide. But God was not done with Cam Tribolet. During his remarkable recovery, Cam befriended and eventually married his physical therapist, Sue, who was instrumental in helping him to find God and begin living again. Since then, his disability has not slowed him down. Cam became an engineer. He and Sue had one child and adopted another from Russia. Cam became an engineer, a father, a downhill skier, and more. Born out of tragedy, Cam’s life is fuller and more rewarding than he ever imagined it could be. His story of redemption, perseverance, and hope is for anyone who needs to discover that our God is a God of amazing second chances.
